Description:

Zerin Firoze was an outspoken critic of Islam in her native Bangladesh, and received numerous death threats for being an atheist. Her own father tried to kill her by throwing her against a wall, leaving her with a fractured skull and a speech impediment. She fled to the US seeking asylum, and is currently a nursing student at SUNY Batavia — where she has to look at Confederate flags on pickup trucks every day. (Yes, in upstate New York.)
